The Golden Triangle Programme by Mansukh Patel
Mansukh Patel and Helena Water’s groundbreaking book, Crisis
and the Miracle of Love presents Mansukh
Patel’s Golden Triangle Programme as a means to access your deepest
resources of both emotional and physical energy. This is based
on Mansukh Patel’s premise that any attempt to be successful
life, no matter what situation you find yourself in, will require
one element above anything else –energy. Without it you
cannot achieve anything at all.
Mansukhl’s Golden Triangle Programme is designed to raise
your energy to 70-80% efficiency so that you can raise yourself
to a powerful, pro-active state constantly. Mansukh’s conviction,
as stated in his book, is that when you can tap into an abundant
source of energy you experience a tremendous sense of well-being
and dynamism.
The three principles of the Golden Triangle are known as the 3
E’s:
Energy –physical energy and vitality
Emotion –emotional energy is a powerful, creative
force
Esteem –high self esteem creates positive thought
which gives us the power to control and direct all your energy
towards your goals
ENERGY
In the Golden Triangle Programme, Mansukh emphasises the importance
of taking care of your body because then your body will take care
of you. Benjamin Disraeli said that the health of the people is really
the foundation upon which all their happiness and all their powers
as a state depend. In order to optimise your energy, first of all
you need to learn to access your physical energy effectively.
Four factors need to be taken into consideration:
- Diet & Nutrition
- Physical movement
- Breathing
- Relaxation
Diet & Nutrition
Do you wake up feeling tired and exhausted? Do you eat after 8pm? Did you know
that this could be a major cause of lack of energy? Your body’s energy
needs to be available for rejuvenation during sleep, and not diverted towards
the digestive process which takes up to eight hours to complete.
Look at when, what and how your eat and you can increase your
energy by 60-80% within a fortnight.
Physical Movement
Mansukh Patel has written many books that promote health through movement.
One of them, The Dance Between
Joy and Pain, describes how movements create a flow of energy that can
move energy to such an extent that emotional disturbances are resolved very
effectively, simply because emotional problems are basically blocked energy.
This is why Mansukh Patel’s particular style of yoga –Dru Yoga –has
been used in war zones to help in de-dramatisation programmes to great effect.
Mansukh maintains that physical movement is the second crucial factor in
accessing our deepest levels of physical energy. Dru Yoga programmes tone
and energise the whole system if practised regularly and with commitment.

Patel’s colleagues from the International School of Dru Yoga
and Meditation, Annie Jones, Anita Goswami and Chris Barrington
have compiled a wonderful yoga book entitled Stillness in Motion.
Walking
Mansukh Patel is a great walker who maintains that walking is one of the most
obvious and beneficial forms of physical movement. It is also one of the
most powerful tools to access physical energy. As Mansukh says, walking at
a fast, enjoyable pace with intention and awareness is one of the best ways
to purify the body and mind.
As you walk, energy comes naturally and you find yourself feeling
alive and energised, full of creativity, new ideas and enthusiasm.
Once we free your innate life force, energy begins to flow spontaneously
and effortlessly.
In the Golden Triangle section of Crisis & the Miracle of
Love, Mansukh Patel advises that if you have a problem in your
life –any problem –try 10-15 minutes walking a day
and feel the magical effects. Never underestimate the power of
walking, says Mansukh.
Breathing
Mansukh Patel’s parents trained him in the art of breathing or pranayama
as it is known in the yoga world. Mansukh says in Crisis and the Miracle of
Love that apart from food, breath is our greatest source of energy. Through
conscious use of the breath, we can awaken and energise the body in seconds.
Proper breathing requires the use of the diaphragm. When we breathe
fully, the diaphragm contracts and the abdomen expands, allowing
the lungs to fill with air. According to Mansukh, most people use
only a fraction of their lung capacity which means that energy
and vitality will be extremely diminished.
The Full Breath
Sitting as straight as you can, inhale by expanding first the abdomen and then
the chest in one, slow movement until the lungs feel full of air.
Exhale by relaxing first the abdomen and then slowly push the
breath out with the diaphragm, as the chest relaxes. Create a natural
pause at the end of the inhalation and the exhalation.
Relaxation
In Crisis and the Miracle of Love, Mansukh Patel explains that relaxation is
an integral part of health. We need to relax, says Mansukh, in order to allow
the body to adjust and recharge.
When you activate the body’s relaxation response the brain
secretes natural relaxants which soothe away the stresses of a
busy day. You may only need fifteen minutes to completely revitalise
yourself.
Used in combination with movement and vigorous exercise, relaxation
will maximise the energy available to you. If you want to feel
brighter and happier, put on some soothing music and settle into
a deep and rejuvenating relaxation such as this one.
Waves of Peace Relaxation Exercise
- To activate the relaxation response, lie flat on your back,
legs and arms spread out a little, palms facing uppermost.
- Become aware of your breath for a few minutes.
- As you breathe in, rotate your feet outwards, letting them
come back as you breathe out. Simultaneously, allow your arms
and hands to rotate outwards and then gently rotate back towards
the body.
- After a few minutes gradually let your feet and arms come to
rest. Continue in blissful relaxation for as long as you need.
